Sleeper Picks: The Heritage
Apr. 20, 2011
The PGA TOUR travels to Harbour Town Golf Links this week for The Heritage. Here's how the PGATOUR.COM experts sized up the top contenders:

EXPERT PICKS How it works: Our experts from PGATOUR.COM select the player they think will win this week's event. By using a draft process, no two picks can be the same. SCOTT STALLINGS. After missing his first five cuts of the year, Stallings has played well the last month and in two of his last three starts he's finished in the top 11. Pure momentum pick here. |
Ryan Smithson |
 | RICKY BARNES. For the life of me, I can't figure out why hasn't really come close to winning on TOUR. He's one of the best iron players in the game but will have to get the putter going at Harbour Town, where he tied for fifth last year. |
Amanda Balionis |
KEVIN NA. Had it not been for one troublesome hole last week at TPC San Antonio, Na would have been one shot off the lead after Round 1. Na has 15 top-10s in the last two-plus seasons and has finished as high as fourth here. |
John Swantek |
PAT PEREZ. Maybe the TOUR's streakiest player -- in either direction. Three cuts and a WD in a five-tournament stretch, followed by an impressive T5 on a tough TPC San Antonio course last week. I'll roll the dice and say Double P will back that up this week. |
Lauren Deason |
BOO WEEKLEY. Had a tough time choosing between two-time Heritage winner Boo Weekley and five-time winner Davis Love III. Boo has struggled over the last few months, but if he's going to turn his game -- and year -- around, he will do so at Hilton Head. |
Anne Szeker |
KEEGAN BRADLEY. I feel like I got away with something last week having Hoffman as my sleeper pick, so I'm going to go with a rookie this time around. Bradley showed a lot of strength at Valero with a T9 -- his fourth top-25 finish of the season. |
Mike McAllister |
CAMERON TRINGALE. I'll go with the hot hand, as Tringale comes off a T5 at the Valero Texas Open, his best TOUR finish in 34 career starts. The TOUR rookie has cashed in eight of his first 11 starts this year. |
Helen Ross |
CHARLES HOWELL III. He's coming off a tie for eighth at the Valero Texas Open, which was his second top-10 of the season and sixth top-25. Howell's got a solid record at Harbour Town, too, after finishing 22nd or higher in three of his five starts. |
Chris Dunham |
BEN CURTIS. Much like Mr. Schwarb did in this week's Expert Picks, I go to my Ohio roots with a sleeper pick. The 2003 Champion Golfer of the Year is No. 2 on TOUR in driving accuracy and 18th in scrambling. Those are two numbers I really like here. |
John Schwarb |
FREDRIK JACOBSON. The Swede has been a reliable sleeper pick this year with five top-25 finishes including T9 at Arnold Palmer and T5 last week at the Valero Texas Open. He has made four of five cuts at The Heritage with three of those ending in top-25s. |

LAST WEEK: Anne Szeker's selection of Charley Hoffman (T2 at TPC San Antonio) allowed her to move from No. 5 to No. 2 in the standings.
